Creativity: Making Space for Something New

A perspective from Orit Inbar – Life Alignment’s coordinator in Israel, an advanced teacher and practitioner who also works with SoulCollage® and other creativity-based personal development tools. She explores how creativity can help us discover new possibilities within ourselves and our lives.

When we hear the word creativity, many of us think of art, music, writing or dance. We may even divide people, including ourselves, into those who are creative and those who are not.

But creativity is much broader than artistic expression. We use it when we develop a vision for our future, plan a project, find an unexpected solution, adapt to change or discover a different way of communicating.

A parent finding a new approach to a family conflict is being creative. So is someone redesigning their working day, imagining a different career or finding a way forward when the original plan no longer works.

Creativity is our ability to move beyond what already exists and bring something new into being.

Perhaps its most meaningful expression is the way we create our own lives.

When familiar patterns limit possibility

Our minds are remarkably good at recognising patterns. We learn from experience, develop habits and create expectations that help us navigate everyday life.

But these same patterns can become limitations.

Through upbringing, education, culture and personal experience, we absorb countless ideas about what is possible, acceptable or expected of us. Over time, some become so familiar that we no longer question them.

I should be more successful. I mustn’t disappoint anyone. I’m not creative. People like me don’t do that.

These beliefs may feel like facts, although they may simply be interpretations we have repeated for years.

Creativity invites us to question them.

Instead of asking, “Can I do this?” we might ask, “How could I do this?”

Instead of assuming there is only one solution, we begin exploring alternatives.

This is not about ignoring reality or abandoning responsibility. It is about recognising that our habitual response may not be our only possible response.

And that recognition can be the beginning of meaningful change.

The freedom to respond differently

Creativity is not simply about producing something original. A creative response also needs to be meaningful, appropriate or useful.

Consider a difficult conversation. We may not be able to change the facts, but we can choose our words, timing and tone. We can listen differently. We can respond rather than react.

Or consider a life transition. Creativity allows us to imagine a new direction, combine existing skills in unexpected ways and gradually turn a vision into practical steps.

In Life Alignment™, we explore how emotional conditioning and energetic patterns may influence our experience of life. But the intention goes beyond recognising limitations.

At the heart of the work is the possibility of reconnecting with our inner creative power: our capacity to participate consciously and purposefully in shaping our lives.

Rather than seeing ourselves only as products of circumstances, we begin recognising our ability to choose, initiate, adapt and create.

Not everything is within our control. Yet we often have more influence over our response and our next step than we initially realise.

Sometimes we need to make space

We live in a world where almost every empty moment can be filled. Information, messages, social media and constant stimulation compete for our attention.

We have become very good at consuming information. But how much space do we leave for something original to emerge?

Research into creativity suggests that undemanding activities, mind-wandering and even boredom can, under certain conditions, support creative thinking and problem-solving.

Perhaps what appears to be an empty moment is not empty at all.

Our minds may be connecting ideas, reorganising experiences and discovering associations that are less accessible when we are constantly occupied.

We need our analytical minds to evaluate and bring ideas into form. But when analysis becomes immediate judgement, emerging possibilities can disappear before we have explored them.

That won’t work. That’s unrealistic. What will people think?

Sometimes creativity requires us to suspend judgement long enough for a new idea to develop.

A walk, a quiet moment or simply allowing ourselves not to know may create the space we need.

Making space is not doing nothing. It can be an important part of creating something new.

Rediscovering the inner creator

From a Life Alignment™ perspective, creativity is connected to our relationship with the intelligence of life and the universe.

We are not merely responding to circumstances. We have the capacity to participate consciously in shaping our lives, guided by deeper awareness of who we are and what matters to us.

Discovering the inner creator means recognising this capacity within ourselves, beyond familiar expectations, automatic responses and limiting beliefs.

Life Alignment™ approaches this through structured energetic inquiry, emotional integration and embodied practice.

During a Life Alignment™ session, a practitioner supports the exploration of emotional and energetic patterns, with the intention of reconnecting us with our inner resources, personal direction and creative potential.

The work is concerned not only with resolving difficulties, but also with purpose, vitality and expressing our capabilities more fully.

Peak performance, in this context, does not mean constantly achieving more or pushing ourselves harder. It means bringing our abilities, awareness and energy into greater alignment with what we genuinely want to create.

And sometimes this begins with a simple question:

What might become possible if I stopped defining myself by what I have always believed?

Creativity grows through connection

Although creativity is often imagined as a solitary process, something interesting can happen when we explore possibilities together.

Another person’s question can reveal an assumption we had not noticed. Someone else’s perspective may open a direction we would never have considered alone.

Group work offers opportunities to learn from our own experiences and the reflections of others. There can be something reassuring about recognising that, although our stories differ, many of the questions we carry are shared.

Within Life Alignment™, our Life Path Journey is a signature workshop exploring personal direction and life purpose. It can be experienced individually with a practitioner or within a group.

Individual work offers focused personal exploration. Group work adds shared discovery, different perspectives and inspiration through others’ experiences.

Both approaches invite us to consider:

What is the life I want to create, and how can I participate more consciously in creating it?

A small experiment in everyday creativity

You do not need to wait for inspiration or a major life change to explore your creative capacity.

Think of one situation in which you feel stuck or keep repeating the same response.

Then ask yourself:

  • What am I assuming must remain the same?
  • Is this a fact, or a familiar belief?
  • What might I choose if I were less concerned about expectations?
  • What is one small, realistic step I could take differently?

You do not need an immediate answer. Simply allowing another possibility into your awareness is already a different way of approaching the situation.

Creativity develops through exploration, experimentation and practice.

Continuing the exploration with Life Alignment

Our programme for the coming year will soon be announced on the Life Alignment™ website. It will include an open workshop exploring our inner creative power, as well as a group Life Path Journey workshop.

For those curious about the Life Alignment™ approach, we also invite you to a free chat with Jeff Levin, founder of Life Alignment™.

This offers an opportunity to explore the ideas behind the work, ask questions and gain a clearer sense of how Life Alignment™ approaches personal transformation, purpose and our capacity for conscious creation.

Details of these opportunities will be available on our website.

What could you create from here?

Creativity does not necessarily remove life’s challenges. But it can change how we meet them.

Perhaps the most important creative act is not producing something extraordinary. Perhaps it is discovering that we can respond differently to something ordinary.

A conversation. A decision. An old belief. A familiar challenge.

Life is constantly changing, and balance is not a fixed destination. It is an ongoing process of adjustment, awareness and response.

Instead of asking only, “How do I solve this?” we might also ask:

“What could I create here?”

And if the answer does not come immediately, perhaps that is all right.

Sometimes something new begins when we stop filling every space and allow ourselves to discover what might emerge.

VORTEX CARD OF THE MONTH

Opener (Release)

Releasing old patterns. Creating new possibilities.

Within Life Alignment™, the Opener Card from Vortex Technology™ is used to support the release of inherited family beliefs and patterns, both in personal work and in living spaces.

As Orit Inbar explains:

“For me, this card helps shift stuckness into flow. When clients struggle to move beyond an old story or make a new creative choice, I find it helps soften resistance. I often use it on the heart or third-eye chakra.”

Sometimes creativity begins when we release the old and make space for something new.
