When it comes to personal growth and healing, many of us assume we need to go it alone. We think transformation happens privately, in silent moments of meditation, therapy, or journaling. And while solitude does have its place, research and lived experience show something more:
We often heal faster, more deeply, and more sustainably when we do it in the presence of others.
This is the foundational idea behind group work—not just in Life Alignment, but in many well-known healing traditions and psychological models. From ancient ceremonial circles to modern-day support groups, people have always gathered in community to reflect, release, and remember who they are. In this month’s newsletter we are going to look deeper into the topic of group healing.
Human beings are social by nature. Our nervous systems are designed to regulate through co-regulation – meaning we calm down, feel safe, and orient ourselves better when we’re with others who are grounded and present.
Neuroscientist Stephen Porges coined the term “neuroception” to describe how our bodies constantly scan the environment for safety. In a supportive group setting, especially one with attuned facilitators, the body receives cues of safety, which is essential for healing and emotional integration.
We Learn by Resonance and Reflection
Sometimes, we can’t see our own patterns until someone else shares something that hits home. This mirroring effect is a key element in modalities like Gestalt therapy, family constellations, and even like Anonymous Addict groups. In those spaces, people often say, “I heard my story in your words.”
This kind of recognition is powerful. It dissolves shame and creates belonging – two things that are essential for sustainable personal change.

“When people gather with clear intention, a kind of energetic intelligence shows up – something larger than any one of us. That’s where the real healing begins.”
— Jeff Levin
Every few weeks, people from around the globe – some experienced in Life Alignment, others completely new – gather online or in person for group workshops. And each time, something subtle but powerful happens: people feel seen, heard, softened, shifted. That’s why group work is becoming an increasingly central part of the Life Alignment journey – and it’s easy to understand why.
Alignment: Why Group Healing Is So Powerful
When we come together in a shared intention – even if we don’t speak – a deeper coherence begins to form. You might notice sensations in your body during someone else’s balancing or feel emotional shifts simply by witnessing.
- Shared resonance unlocks healing: When someone in the group shares a story or receives a balance, others often recognise aspects of themselves in that process. That kind of mirroring brings insights without effort.
- The energy field becomes more dynamic: A well-held group creates a strong energetic container. This allows deeper patterns to surface and resolve – not through force, but through flow. Its a very tangible experience.
- You’re never working alone: In a group, even your quiet presence matters. You contribute to the field, and the field supports you in return.

Group Fields Amplify Insight and Transformation
While science doesn’t yet fully understand how the energetic coherence of a “group field” works, research in systems theory and quantum field dynamics offers clues. When individuals come together with a shared intention, the group forms a kind of collective intelligence. Ideas flow more freely. Insights arise. People report sensing things they couldn’t access alone.
In simpler terms: the field holds more than the sum of its parts.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
— Matthew 18:20 (NIV)
This verse of the bible is often used to highlight the spiritual power and presence that emerges when people come together with shared intention or in prayer. It resonates deeply with the concept of group healing, shared presence, and alignment within community settings like we offer in Life Alignment.
Relating: The New Frontier of Spiritual Practice
One of the core themes Jeff brought to the forefront this summer is that spiritual growth cannot be separated from how we relate. In our close relationships – partners, friends, colleagues, even strangers – we are constantly navigating projection, expectation, and unconscious programs.
In group work, this becomes fertile ground for healing. A triggered moment in a group setting can become the portal to healing a childhood wound. A tension between two participants can become a teaching moment on boundaries or self-worth. And all of it is done through the Life Alignment lens: clear, energetic, compassionate, and deeply empowering.

The Future: Community as Legacy
Now in his 81st year, Jeff’s passion is not slowing – it is ripening. Over the past two years, he has moved his teachings almost entirely online.
Jeff often speaks of legacy – not as something left behind, but as something co-created. And that legacy, he says, lives in the groups, the circles, the shared breaths, the moments of laughter after a deep cry, the trust formed between strangers. Online and Offline.
Final Thoughts
Group work works – not because it’s louder or more dramatic than individual work, but because it taps into something ancient and essential: our need to be with each other, to witness and be witnessed, to heal in community.
Whether it’s a Life Alignment workshop, a weekly recovery group, or a circle of friends who dare to be honest, healing becomes more real when we do it together.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
— Helen Keller
Our Open Workshops, whether online or in person, are informal, welcoming spaces. You don’t need to prepare anything or have prior knowledge. Some people share deeply, others observe silently. Everyone receives something.
“Chat with Jeff” – A Free Offering, Every Second Tuesday
Alongside our open workshops and retreats, we host a regular free online gathering called “Chat with Jeff.” It’s a casual yet powerful space where Jeff Levin offers presence, guidance, and energy alignment for whoever shows up.
🗓️ Every second Tuesday
🕗 20:00 SAST (South Africa Standard Time)
💻 On Zoom – Free and open to all
These sessions usually include a short group meditation or alignment, a Q&A where anyone can ask questions (about Life Alignment, the current times, or personal growth), and sometimes a free group balance that emerges organically.
It’s a beautiful way to stay connected, especially for those who don’t always have time for a full workshop. And for new people, it’s a great entry point into the community – no expectations, no pressure.
Jeff’s 2025 Europe Visit: Community in Motion
From June to July 2025, Jeff will be travelling in Europe to offer a small number of in-person group-workshops, including the UK, Germany, Italy and Sweden. For full information about in person and online Group work – dates and registration, visit our event website.
